Mini Bloggiesta is winding down and I got some things accomplished this weekend, although I didn’t get through my whole To Do list. However, I’m so thankful that I participated, mainly because of the fantastic community of bloggers that were on Twitter answering questions and sharing tips. As a relatively “green” blogger, this was invaluable to me! Maybe in the not too distant future, I can be one of the ones giving back and sharing knowledge rather than the newbie soaking up all the awesome tips from the veterans!
Here’s how I did on my original To Do List:
- Add pictures to my RSS feed – tried a new plug-in (Featured Images in RSS with Size and Position) and it’s still not working! Need to investigate this further…
- Back-up my blog – I used the Updraft Plus plug-in at Shannon from River City Reading‘s recommendation and signed up for Amazon’s S3 remote storage (you can try it for free for a year).
- Write 2 Top Ten Tuesday posts – Completed one Top Ten Tuesday post (Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books From, which will be posted on July 29).
- Research potentially changing the look of my blog (how much work is it?, how risky is it?, how do I do it?) – participated in Shannon from River City Reading‘s “The Hunt for Premade Blog Templates Challenge”. She wrote a great guide to a happy medium way (better than WordPress or Blogger’s free templates, but not as intricate as using a custom designer) to redesign your blog. I browsed a bit on Etsy to look for templates, but haven’t found the perfect solution yet.
I also did one more thing not on my original list:
- Participated in Doing Dewey’s Mini-Challenge on “Requesting ARC’s” – I emailed Book Bloggers International to get added to their Blogger Index and registered for an Edelweiss account.
I will definitely be participating in this event again! For more information, check out the Bloggiesta website or Twitter account (@Bloggiesta).
Sounds like you got a lot done!!! Weekends are busier for me than during the week it seems. Enjoy the fruits of your labors.
It looks like you had a very productive weekend!
I love your idea of finding a way to make images prettier in RSS feeds! I know mine can get a bit messed up, but it actually didn’t occur to me to google for a solution.
I don’t have any pictures in my RSS feed – I’m just trying to get pictures to show up at all! I have no idea why they don’t already.
