Every Tuesday fellow blogger Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where bloggers share the first paragraph of the book they are currently reading or thinking about reading soon.
Real Happy Family is coming out in March and I will be reviewing it for TLC Book Tours. This is a satirical novel about Hollywood and the crazy world of reality TV (yes, I now have to admit that I watch reality TV, but with an understanding that it’s not really “reality”). Here’s the first paragraph of Chapter 1 (note that there is a Prologue):
“After Lorelei vanished, what Colleen missed most was the driving. It had been mostly a chore: covering the 250 miles from Fresno to Los Angeles and back again, week after week, the flat stretch of Highway 99 flanked by dairy cows milling in dirt pits and groves of frilly almond trees, the air musky with manure. “Corpse-y,”, Lorelei had called that smell. All they’d wanted to do was get there, into the Valley and out of the car, to whatever audition or casting call Robin had booked for Lorelei. To their fresh dose of hope.”
What do you think? Would you keep reading? My full review will be posted on February 20…
Intriguing topic but the writing doesn’t draw me in.

Not sure if I would continue with this one, but hope you enjoy it.
The topic is interesting to me, so I’d read on.
My Tuesday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/02/first-chapter-first-paragraph-49.html
I’ve driven that flat stretch between Fresno and LA…and the intro made me feel every boring mile! LOL
I want to know more….thanks! Here’s MY TUESDAY POST
I saw this offered on the kindle deal of the day not too long ago. I wonder if it was a pre-sale? enjoy your book. kelley—the road goes ever ever on
I do every now and again watch a bit of reality TV but wouldn’t miss a book for it. But I can see that it can be a good topic in a book.
I’m not loving the writing style:( I do hope you like this one Sarah.
I like the sounds of this one. I know that stretch of highway too and most of the Valley the author is referring to. Hope this one is good.
I would have to read a bit more to decide.
