I was tagged for this post by Busy Brunette’s Bookshelf.
Four names people call me other than my real name:
- My maiden name (this started in high school and never really stopped)
- A spin-off of my maiden name that will give everyone the wrong idea if I share it here
- Mom
Four jobs I’ve had:
- Waitress
- Cashier at a BBQ joint
- Swim Coach
- Leadership Development Consultant
Four movies I would/have watched more than once (I’m super high brow on movie selections, I tell ya!):
- Cruel Intentions
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
- Varsity Blues
- Friday Night Lights (the TV series, not the movie…but it’s so good that it supplanted any 4th movie that I could have mentioned here)
Four books I’d recommend (how do I choose just 4?!):
- The Wife by Meg Wolitzer (the best book I reviewed in January)
- My Sunshine Away by M.O. Walsh (my favorite book of 2015 so far)
- The Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy (the only addition to my All-Time Favorites List since I started this blog)
- The Wife, The Maid, and The Mistress by Ariel Lawhon (my most recommended book of 2014)
Four places I have been:
- Deltaville, Virginia
- Australia
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Charleston, South Carolina
Four places I’d rather be right now:
- Here…
- Reading an amazing book, preferably at the above location, but I’ll take an amazing book anywhere!
- In a “relaxation room” at a spa
- Anywhere warm – we’ve had snow on the ground for what seems like weeks…
Four things I don’t eat:
- Grapefruit
- Green peppers (but I love yellow, red and orange)
- There’s not much I “don’t” eat…I pretty much love food, all food!
Four of my favorite foods:
- Cheese
- Shellfish (oysters, crabs, clams, mussels, lobsters, scallops, sea urchin…any I left out?)
- Avocado
- Bread pudding (both sweet and savory)
Four TV shows that I watch:
- The Affair
- The Bachelor / Bachelorette / Bachelor in Paradise (and lamenting the loss of Bachelor Pad)
- Nashville
- Top Chef
Four things I am looking forward to this year (2015):
- Seeing my kids grow up even more
- A couple new releases by favorite authors: Beatriz Williams, Erik Larson, and Greg Iles
- My blog makeover (which is coming soon!)
- Competing in my first outdoor sprint triathlon this summer
Four things I’m always saying:
- “Seriously?”
- “Ya’ll” (even though I live in the North)
- “Give me a second/minute”
- “I don’t have time…”

Loved your answers Sarah. Your place to be (by the pool) looks amazing! Thanks for sharing your responses.
Fun post! I’m happy to hear about a new Beatriz Williams novel:)
“Cruel Intentions”?!? I haven’t seen that one in SOOOO long! I’m going to have to look it up now on Amazon/Netflix and see if I can find it somewhere; I’m going to have to watch it again, thanks to you. I think everyone should try out waitressing at least once, so you’ve definitely fulfilled that requirement. I also find it really difficult to choose “favorite” books; I always think, “you mean other than the one I just read?” or something like that! I’m now dying to find out what this secret “spin-off” name is; one of these days… 🙂 Thanks for sharing this, Sarah!
Yep – Cruel Intentions. Ryan Phillipe was HOT in it. Plus, its just such a deliciously messed up movie! Still love it. Check your email for the nickname 🙂
This is fun! I don’t care what anyone says, Christmas Vacation is one of the finest movies ever filmed 😀
Cheeeeese. Nom nom nom.
Yes! It absolutely is! But, we watched it (again) this Xmas and picked out all the editing flubs…there are many. It’s a fun game. Still absolutely love the movie and still die laughing even though I’ve probably seen it 20+ times.
I will have to check out your favorite books! Also – I too want to be at a beach with a book… 🙂
Top Chef FTW! I don’t watch reality TV but I love me some Top Chef and Top Chef Juniors!
Have you tried abalone? It’s a favourite of mine. I’m pretty sure it’s shellfish. I love all the other shellfish you listed too!
Hmm…I’ve definitely heard of it! I don’t think I’ve tried it, but may have?! I will definitely order it the next time I see it on a menu!
I’m loving your answers Sarah – although I’m incredibly intrigued about your maiden name 🙂 The best answer has to be where you’d most like to be – I’ll join you although we’ve had no snow.
I just emailed you the maiden name story 🙂
Love learning new things about my best friend!! So tempted to let your secret maiden nickname out of the bag:). Completely opposite of the truth but funny!
I almost included it! I have emailed a couple other bloggers separately who have asked.
Thanks for commenting – you should do it more often since you are my best friend – haha! 🙂
I just love your answers! I am so happy you enjoyed it 🙂
