Can you believe it’s already time for the Best Books of 2017 So Far?!
Last year, 60% of the books on my June Best Books of 2016 So Far list ended up on my overall favorite books of 2016 list. Which, based on the massive reading slump I had during the first few months of last year, is kind of shocking.
I don’t feel like the beginning of this year has been as slumpy as last year, so we’ll have to see how many of this year’s halftime crop make it to the finish line…

White Fur by Jardine Libaire (my review)
The most gorgeous writing of the year so far…and a love story I actually enjoyed!
What are your favorite books so far this year?
I haven’t read any of these, but most are on my wish list!
Bear town is at the top of my TBR followed closely by White Fur and This is How it Always Is. You’ve got an interesting assortment, I may add Stranger in the Woods to my audiobook list
I could have guessed at the ones we had in common! Almost put This Is How It Always is on my list. I really debated between it and a couple of others. I’d forgotten about The Wanderers, but need to give it and Trophy Son a try. They both sound perfect for a change of pace and with your endorsement….
The Wanderers and Dead Letters are still on my TBR, but I hope to get to them soon!
I’ve read 3 of those books and 2 out of the 3 would make my list of favorites so far this year.
So many of these are on my TBR list. I’m especially looking forward to The Stranger in the Woods. I actually own that one. I just haven’t read it yet . . .
I can’t decide which book is my favorite so far. Clearly, none that I”ve read, since I don’t remember any of them…
Haha – you sound like you have my memory!
I have White Fur from Book of the Month Club. Need to read it soon!
Yay – hope you love it!
I’m planning to read The Wanderers on your recommendation. I’m looking forward to finding out what makes it so unique.
Hope you love it! It’s been hit or miss for some people, but was obviously a total hit for me.
Beartown definitely makes my list too!
Yay!
I haven’t read any of these yet, but Beartown and This Is How It Always Is are on my list because of your reviews!
Hope you love them!
Great list! A bunch of these are actually on my TBR. 🙂 Here’s my T10T for this week!
“Dead Letters” is our intersection. But I have “Beartown,” “Based on a True Story” and “If We Were Villains” on hold. “White Fur” too but after reading the sample, I’ve my doubts.
We depart on “All Grown Up” and “The Wanderers.”
White Fur is certainly not for everyone. There are very explicit sex scenes if those bother you. For me, the beautiful writing did it.
And All Grown Up and The Wanderers are definitely books that I don’t think will appeal to everyone. I was thinking that as I was reading All Grown Up…that many people would really get annoyed with Andrea.
I’d say Villains and Beartown fall in the Dead Letters category (wide appeal) and Based on a True Story won’t appeal to some people. If you like concrete answers, you will probably get really frustrated with Based on a True Story. But the not knowing and the wondering was a big source of the appeal for me.
Haven’t read any 🙁 I’ve added Beartown to my TBR (didn’t know much about it but now I totally want to read it!) And we were villains, which sounds awesome too!
Hope you get to both and they work for you! I’ve been recommending both a ton lately!
I really need to read This Is How It Always Is. I keep seeing it at the library but I always have too many books to check out! The Wanderers also looks good.
I really enjoyed The Wanderers too! And If We Were Villains and Beartown are ones I’m particularly looking forward to 🙂
